Vokiana, born Natalia Voronkina in Lviv in 1991, is a Ukrainian artist who currently lives and works in Rome, making the Italian capital the vibrant center of her creative endeavors. Her professional journey is remarkably multidimensional, rooted in an intriguing blend of artistic passion and financial acumen. In 2013, she earned a Master’s degree in the Management of Foreign Economic Activities from Lviv Polytechnic, distinguishing herself with a thesis dedicated to the analysis of artworks as a form of financial investment. This academic background provides her with a unique lens through which she navigates the complexities of the contemporary art market, allowing her to balance the intrinsic value of creativity with broader economic realities.
Her artistic dialogue with Italy began early in her career; between 2012 and 2013, she proudly represented the Lazio region at the National Exhibition of Artistic Nativity Scenes in Massa Martana, Umbria, showcasing paintings inspired by sacred themes. Following a transformative three-year period in Baku, Azerbaijan, where she studied and worked at the Turan studio, Vokiana deepened her artistic research by exploring the intricate relationship between cultural traditions and generational perspectives. Now residing in Rome, she continues to expand this research, focusing her work on the profound connections between identity, human history, and the natural environment.
Vokiana’s canvas serves as a powerful medium for social commentary, particularly concerning environmental destruction and the devastating effects of armed conflicts on landscapes. Following the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, her work acquired a new, expressive urgency, shifting its focus toward the crisis within the Ukrainian agricultural sector and its far-reaching global consequences. From this tragic context emerged the “HARVEST” series, a collection dedicated to the agrarian landscape and the enduring symbolic role that wheat plays in the history of humanity. Through her vision, fields, colors, and memories are transformed into potent symbols of peace, profound renewal, and a future built upon the harmony between human beings and the earth.
Beyond her extensive presence in international galleries and prestigious Italian institutional spaces, Vokiana champions a highly social vision of art. Validating her dual expertise in culture and systemic organization, she assumed the role of Ambassador of Culture for the CONF.E.P.I. Confederation in 2026. In this institutional capacity, she contributes to a crucial cultural dialogue on both an Italian national and European level, aimed strictly at the valorization of artistic labor. She fervently promotes a society capable of offering concrete support to creative professionals, advocating for conditions that allow artists to express themselves freely, beyond mere market constraints. Ultimately, Vokiana’s commitment strives for the definitive recognition, protection, and dignity of artistic work, establishing it as a fundamental element of the contemporary social and cultural fabric.
