The Ferrara Film Festival, now entering its landmark tenth year (September 20-28, 2025), has officially announced its full program during a national press conference. The exclusive event took place on September 3rd at the iconic Hotel Excelsior in Lido di Venezia, leveraging the prestigious backdrop of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival to capture the attention of the global film community.
A significant development for the 2025 edition is the appointment of journalist and author Claudia Conte as the new Co-Artistic Director. She will work alongside Founder and Artistic Director Maximilian Law, bringing a fresh and inclusive perspective to the festival. Her extensive experience as a social and cultural entrepreneur is set to enrich the festival’s mission, reinforcing its commitment to promoting cinematic works that merge art, culture, and social impact.
“I am profoundly proud to take on this role, which I embrace with enthusiasm and a great sense of responsibility,” stated Claudia Conte. “A festival should not be just a simple event, but also an engine for social and economic development, and an international reference point capable of attracting investment and quality productions.”
An Edition of Unprecedented Scale
With a program that ranges from world premieres to independent masterpieces, the 10th Ferrara Film Festival is distinguished by its unparalleled international selection. Nearly 60 films in competition, supplemented by an additional 30 films in collateral events, will form the core of a rich schedule featuring over 150 hours of programming across the nine-day event. The festival will also include masterclasses, conferences, literary presentations, photography exhibitions, retrospectives, and events dedicated to music and fashion.
“Celebrating ten years of the Ferrara Film Festival is an emotion that is difficult to describe,” declared Maximilian Law, the Founder and Artistic Director. “I can only say that the best way to celebrate is by having assembled the best team ever and the best program we have ever had. A sincere thank you to everyone who has worked to make this a reality.”
Star-Studded Support and Social Commitment
The Venice press conference was attended by distinguished guests, signaling strong support for the festival’s direction. The esteemed panel included The Hon. Federico Mollicone, President of the Culture Commission of the Italian Chamber of Deputies. He was joined by two-time Academy Award-winning director and producer Paul Haggis (renowned for global hits Crash and Million Dollar Baby) and celebrated Italian actress Stefania Rocca.
Accompanying the artists was Maria Vittoria Rava, President of the Rava Foundation, an organization that has spent 25 years aiding children, vulnerable women, and families in need both in Italy and around the world. Her presence underscores the festival’s deep-seated connection to social causes and its role as a platform for meaningful cultural dialogue.
