This passion and knowledge were passed down to their daughter, Azzurra, who in 2020 embraced this precious heritage to reinterpret it in a contemporary key, giving life to Illume. The name itself, derived from the Latin illuminare, encapsulates the brand’s mission: to shed light, to bring clarity and revelation. Illume is not simply a jewelry brand, but an ambitious project that elevates the art of piercing to an expression of lifestyle and fashion. The Ambassador: Azzurra, you have taken up the mantle from your parents, transforming a traditional jewelry store into an innovative brand focused on luxury piercing. What inspired this evolution, and what personal vision have you infused into Illume?

Azzurra Del Sarto: “Our need was to re-engage the customer to visit the store again, driven by the desire for new, emotional experiences. We have always maintained that in a world where the need to buy no longer exists, there must be an emotional stimulus to get involved in new purchases. After careful analysis, we realized that the high jewelry sector was missing the ‘Jewelry Piercing.’ From there, we began to write the story of Illume.”

The Ambassador: “Made in Italy” is a globally recognized value. In a product as contemporary and personal as a piercing, how important is the centuries-old Italian goldsmithing tradition, and how does it manifest in your creations?

Azzurra Del Sarto: “The art of craftsmanship is fundamental to Illume’s journey; it is our main characteristic. Valenza has always been the heartland of global jewelry creation; just consider that the most important brands in the industry produce everything there. And so does Illume. Our rebranding stems precisely from this excellence: clients, looking at themselves in the mirror, would tell us that the light radiating from our piercings was unique. The high quality of the product is evident even to an untrained eye.”

The Ambassador: Illume targets a broad and conscious audience, including Millennials and Generation Z, as well as lovers of more classic luxury. How do you balance the exclusivity of high jewelry with the need to communicate to a global and culturally diverse audience?

Azzurra Del Sarto: “We are aware that beauty speaks a language that everyone can understand. Our collection, in fact, ranges from simpler, more accessible jewelry to decidedly more exclusive pieces. One of our primary goals remains to convey the value of a jewel that lasts over time. We want to educate the new generations on the importance of buying a quality product with a story to tell and to pass down.”

The Ambassador: Illume’s mission is to evolve from a jewelry brand to a lifestyle brand. What is the next step on this path? How do you envision the future of Illume beyond the world of piercing?

Azzurra Del Sarto: “I get emotional when people ask me how I imagine the future of Illume, because we know exactly where we want to go. The next step is brand dissemination and building an exclusive commercial network in Italy. We are already looking at the foreign market with great attention. Illume will always remain a brand specializing in Jewelry Piercing, but we are already looking beyond that. We have two collections in the works that will not be limited to piercings; we will open our vision to a broader product range, with innovative materials that will maintain the brand’s core values: quality and exclusive design.”

Towards International Markets: An Enlightened Strategy

Illume’s vision knows no borders. With a clear and ambitious positioning strategy, the brand aims to conquer key luxury markets globally. Starting from a solid base in Italy, the expansion targets strategic locations such as the Arab Emirates, where a love for exclusivity is the norm, and Asia, with a focus on India, a market with enormous potential and a deep-rooted jewelry culture. America, with metropolises like New York and Los Angeles, and Europe, particularly the Central European, Scandinavian, and Spanish regions, also represent fertile ground for a brand built on the pillars of quality craftsmanship and personalized design.
